I need to add an update on Leadership Lesson 3. First, as a reminder, Leadership Lessons are my leadership lessons. These are not lessons that I’m teaching. These are lessons that I’m learning, and I happen to be sharing them.
Second, the update. I was reading a book yesterday when I was at Barnes and Noble, and I have to add to LL3. I wrote about how as leaders we need mentors, but what I read and learned yesterday made even better sense that what I wrote. The book is You Inc by Beckwith and Beckwith. The line is – “People destined to succeed attract all kinds of people, including mentors.” (p. 31).
LL3 talked about finding a mentor. Beckwith and Beckwith said that if you’re are destined to succeed, if you are that amazing a leader, mentors will find you. I like that. I can find a mentor, but be someone that a mentor finds.
