So I don’t normally take a look at the “explore” feature on Twitter. Seriously, who has time? I mean, I can barely keep up with the amount of followers that I have – and I like to at least have … Continue reading

I think I heard that in a talk somewhere, or maybe I heard a concept and came up with it. I don’t remember. I’d cite the reference if I could remember. This is another post that I am writing to … Continue reading
We all have the ability. Some of us aren’t as good as others of you, but you all have the ability. With practice you can get better at it. I think my general rule of thumb is that the person … Continue reading
Most times when people talk about “hearing voices,” they talk about it in a negative or bad sense. There is nothing wrong with hearing voices.
If you think about it, you relate to yourself all the time. You have an inner monologue that speaks to your conscious. You psych yourself out to take the plunge. It’s what psychologists call – self talk. You hear voices. Even as you’re reading this, you’re talking to yourself – asking questions. You’re either asking yourself whether this is true or not. You might be hearing yourself say that Lem is so wrong or so off – that was a voice in your head that told you that – you hear voices.
What is bad is listening to the wrong voice – that negative voice that says that you can’t or that you’re not good enough. What is bad is listening to the wrong voice. Listening to yourself requires that you’re quiet enough and still long enough to hear. Listen to that inner voice of love. You’re awesome.
I am listening through the Gospels. I am not setting a time limit – Ed did in his book – I’m just going to listen to the gospel. I’m going to try and do it once a week, but I started on a week that I’m not working. It’s easy when you’re not working.
I listened thru Mark today. What a great thing to listen to the book. First of all, you hear everything in context. Listening to it has power. I mean, that’s how it was done for hundreds and hundreds of years. During the time of the writing of Mark – that’s how the word went out – it was read. People listened to it. I’ve been studying it for years. Listening to it read out – is new. It is fascinating.
Have you ever heard a deaf musician play music? Have you ever heard of a thing? How can someone that can’t hear with their ears learn how to make beautiful sound? Well, they would tell you that they listen with every part of their being then. Just because they can’t hear doesn’t mean that they can’t hear. I know. It doesn’t even sound like it’s possible does it?
I listened to a talk given by Evelyn Glennie. I got the talk from here. They titled the talk Evelyn Glennie shows how to listen. Her quest is to teach the world how to listen. She listens not with her ears but with every part of her body. Truly, she’s teaching us how to live more fully and to experience more wholly – with every part of our being. It’s quite compelling. She’s an amazing musician.
I’m not sure I’ve ever thought about how I listen. I want to try and listen in more ways that I currently do. Not just with my ears, but with every part of me. I want to experience listening.
