I just posted about kiva, but I had to share this as well. On kiva.org, they have community lending teams. You can either start a team or partner with others of like mind and lend as a team. I found it quite interesting that the largest team is the Atheists, Agnostics, Skeptics, Freethinkers, Secular Humanists and the Non-Religious Team. They have also donated the most amount of money. The second largest team is the Kiva Christians. There aren’t as many members. The Kiva Christians haven’t given as many loans or as much money as the “A team” (There’s a big A as their symbol).
What does this tell you about Christians? Always second and never leading the charge. Not as hip to the newer and trendier opportunities. Or simply just not giving.
Should I join the team? Should I join the A team? Should I even care? I guess at the end of the day, people’s lives all over the world are being changed by lenders, but as Christians we don’t lead. We’re too busy being in second place. Christians are the ones that have been called by God – to go into all the world. The A team hasn’t been called in the same way, but they lead the way. Too bad for the B team.
