That’s the theme for next year at San Diego Christian College. I’m going to present it to the faculty and staff on Monday morning. I will be ready for it, but I’m still working on it.
The main idea is that the good inside someone will find its way out – Luke 6:45 and consequently, the evil in someone will be expressed in some way. It will be interesting to refocus from the Inside Out. My division – Student Life has to regulate the rules and there are alot of rules tha focus on the outside. There’s a certain look that students must maintain. There’s a certain actions, behaviors, and restrictions that a student at the institution must adhere to when they are there. Many of these things focus on the outside. We want them to serve. We want them to do this and go to there. We require all of these things – and most of it is focused on outside things.
It’s a weird spot to be in to say we want to focus on what’s going on in the inside and then regulate all of the things that are seen – outside stuff. Don’t get me wrong – I’m going to do my job and continue to regulate all of the rules, but hopefully, we can start the change. Hopefully, we can refocus and be interested in the inner life of our students.
What do you think of when you think about the idea of Inside Out?
