Fascinating

It is so fascinating to see how the world is changing. I haven’t been blogging that long. Every now and then I check to see who’s looking at my blog. I get comments from people that I know, but I think I get more comments from people that I don’t know. One of the places that keeps coming up is condron.us, and it says that if I post about them on my blog, then more random people that I don’t know will come see my blog – which of course is something that I’ve just done, but I think more importantly I am reminded that all of this is made public to the world. Private ideas and thoughts – and processing made available to millions of individuals in the blogosphere. (that word isn’t a part of the dictionary yet so it has the squiggly red lines under it. “squiggly” though, is a word.)

I’ve been studying the identity formation piece of being online. I’ve always been fascinated by the psychology behind what goes on online. It’s not even my field. but the question that fascinates me is why would people share online the things that are going on in their hearts and minds.

I’ve been working on our theme for the year – which is Inside Out. The idea that drives Inside Out is that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. For years I’ve been saying, out of the abundance of the heart, I blog. I can’t help but think about the reasons for why we blog. I am sure there are many, but as I read them, I can’t help but think of the millions of people that aren’t heard and they’re crying out. I get the people blog for many other reasons as well such as marketing, publishing, writing, and networking. I’ve been reading some though that are filled with hurt, loneliness, and sadness. I’ve read a few that are crying out to be heard because their words on the blog reflect the condition of their heart – and there’s a few of them that are broken. We need to start listening.
