Supernatural Love

I had the opportunity to address the faculty and staff today. I had to share the theme for the year and explain it – the theme was provided for us, and I did my best to explain it to everyone. As I was explaining the theme and sharing today, I made a comment – that I had planned on saying, but since I’m a verbal processor, I was processing as I was presenting.

I wanted to say that it is not natural to love, and I did remember to say it. It is not natural to love others. Jesus says that we can only love others because he first loved us. For love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loves not, knows not God for God is love. We can only love because of God.

I also said that it is natural to love ourselves. We are just selfish people. We love ourselves. We say we love other – because we love how it makes us feel. We love them for me – we don’t love them for them. The intensity of that hit me as I was sharing it. It’s not natural to love others, but it’s selfish and natural to love ourselves.

Loving others is supernatural. That hit me as well. There are alot of supernatural things that I do. I pray – that’s supernatural. I love – that’s supernatural. I believe in a supernatural realm. I just love the idea of living on a supernatural level.

Help me understand this.
