The Capabilities of the Mind

I am watching the Science Channel. I don’t normally watch the Science Channel, but a show caught my attention. I don’t know what the title is because the show is done. It was about the genius of individuals.

A self-proclaimed nerd that is able to memorize a deck of cards in 24.68 seconds and he was able to reorder another deck of cards in the same order.

A child with the intelligence and ability to understand college chemistry.

A 13 year old that is able to paint incredibly – and sell her originals for 175k, prints for up to 3k.

A 10 year old jazz pianist – I don’t even know what to write about it because it’s just so amazing.

The guy that Dustin Hoffman’s Rain Man was modeled after – amazing.

The mind is such an incredible part of us. It’s amazing to see their ability. It’s amazing the music that they create, and the art that paint. The capabilities of their minds are mind blowing.

But there is a trade off. They have amazing abilities – creating amazing music and paintings – doing absolutely amazing stuff, but they all have some part of them that isn’t quite developed because of their amazing ability. There is a price to being able to do amazing things. The kids – aren’t really kids. They have amazing opportunities, but they are not able to be kids. The pianist plays gigs at night and gets home at midnight – he’s 10. The child chemist is bored constantly at school. They have amazing abilities – but they are odd, lonely, and so different.

Do you have an amazing talent? Do people think that you’re weird?
