A Psalm for Zach

A few years ago, a professor of mine would write Psalms.  The dictionary defines a Psalm as a sacred song or hymn.  There are a few of them that are pretty brutal – so they would  be fight songs.  My professor just described them as the thoughts of men directed to God.  The rest of the Scriptures go the other direction.  From that perspective, he would write and share Psalms – his thoughts that he’s directed to God.  Here’s a Psalm that I wrote for Zach Vogel.

A Psalm for Zach Vogel

Thank you God for Zach Vogel. Thank you for blessing me with the opportunity to know such a godly young man. I am blessed to know him, and I am excited for what you have in store for him.

I pray God that Zach might understand that: You (Zach) are a blessing. You are a Son of God. You are a man of God. You have been called to make a difference in the world – be faithful for the calling that you have received. I pray God that Zach might come to fully know who you have created him to be. I pray God that you might touch him and the Zach would know that it is from You.

Thank you taking care of him. Thank you for healing him. Thank you for his abilities – to be with people – to play the game of baseball – to lead others – to model Jesus to so many. Continue to bless him. Continue to strengthen him. Continue to use him in ways that we can never understand.

Lord God, amaze him with your wonder. Amaze him with your majesty. Amaze him with your glory.

Lord, love on Zach today. May he experience your love in a new way today. May he know the freedom that comes with love. God help him to understand that there is no fear in love for perfect love casts out fear.

Make him bold. Make him strong. Make him perfect in love – and help him to understand that he can only love because You first loved us. I praise you for your Beloved – Zach.

We are blessed because of him. Soften and strengthen his heart – both the physical one and the soulish one. Perfect him according to your good, pleasing and perfect will.
