I was listening to a sermon this week, and the preacher said that the opposite of love is not hate.  The opposite of love is fear.  Well, for those that are followers of Jesus – the opposite of love is fear.

1 John 4:18 says – There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear….

I thought it was hate, but it is not hate.  The opposite of love is fear.  In love there is freedom.  In love you don’t have to pretend or be afraid of any punishment.  In love you can be confident.

I’m still trying to figure out what it means though.
