When we tell people where we are – such as a Facebook status update or a Foursquare check in – we are in essence telling people where we are not. When I tell you that I’m at work, it means that I’m not at home. I was listening to a podcast this morning and how we make our location public so that someone can go steal things from my house.
There’s some truth to that, but I don’t think just cause I tell you that I’m at work that anyone would come over and take stuff. It doesn’t hurt that I have a big German Shepherd there that will not allow you to come in.
