I was listening to some people talk about the Internet.  They were talking about the Internet as a channel or as a form of media, but it’s not.  The Internet is a Place that people go to to interact.

First of all, it is not possible to control this space or this place.  You can limit activity on some websites, but there are other places that won’t be limited.

Second, researchers call it Copresence – it is this idea of being “there” together.  When you and I interact – even on this blog or on FB in a chat – we are not in FB – we are physically at our home or office, but there is a sense of being “there” together.  It is a place that people meet.  You can’t really control that.
