There was a time when that was a very odd idea.  I mean seriously, I had to take a class (a typing class – on a typewriter) to learn how to put my fingers on the home keys.  I learned how to type 20 years ago – oh man – that was a long time ago.

But now I type with my thumbs.  I sat in a conference today typing on my ipod touch.  I had my netbook with me, but I was able to keep up typing with my thumbs.  We are now thumb typers.

I had a student that would write his papers on his smart phone – email it to himself – then print it off at the library computer/printer.
