I was listening to a guy talk today about how it was impossible to find Silent Spaces. He lives in a huge urban area, and he was talking about how impossible the pursuit was for silent space.
I don’t know if you need silent space, but there is a reflection that is needed in order to truly know your identity and self. He wasn’t necessarily talking about silent space in light of identity formation, but a safe, free, and silent space to reflect on self helps with identity formation. Some write. Some just sit there and think, and some rest in that time.
Reflection brings about formation – no matter what you’re reflecting on. It helps to form identity. I guess – in many ways – the lack of silent space also forms your identity, but the lack of silent space and really, the noise shapes your sense of identity – not you.
