A reviewed post

On a recommendation from a friend, I signed up to be a blogger at thejournalofstudentministries.com.  In fact, here is my profile – http://www.thejournalofstudentministries.com/authors/157/Lem–Usita.  Actually, don’t click on it.  Just take my word for it.

I submitted a blog post today – in fact, I wrote it in wordpress and then submitted it there.  I mean, I just wanted to post something – in fact, I was planning on posting posts from this blog to that one – because it doesn’t do it automatically.

After I wrote it and submitted it, the screen said that one of their administrators had to check it to see if they would post it.  As soon as I saw it, I thought, “Is it a blog if someone has to review it?”  It’s not a blog post if it is.  Please explain this to me.  I’m willing to learn.  I thinking that it’s not a blog post if it has to be reviewed – that’s an article.

I’d post this on my blog there, but I’m thinking that it wouldn’t get posted.  I could be wrong.  They might post it.

I have a blog here that does not have to get reviewed in order to get posted – that’s the beauty of being a blogger.

You make a good point. I understand where TJOSM would come from in wanting to screen posts, but then it becomes controlled collaboration more than open blogging. It’s tricky. Since they have invited you to blog, the inherent expectation is that you’ve already been screened and approved as an appropriate poster, right? It would then suggest that there should be some allowance of risk on your behalf to give each pre-approved blogger the freedom to write what’s in their heart and on their minds.
I think I just muddied the waters even more.

We’re on the same page. I can post whatever I want here. I get that they want to approve posts – really, I get it. It’s that tight control – web 1.0 stuff. As progressive as they think they are, they’re not.
It’s like the church to always be just a little behind – when the trend has hit its peak – the church jumps on.
