Forgetting those things which are behind

I posted that as my Facebook status yesterday morning. It was the verse that popped into my head when I was thinking about the status of my soul at that moment. What a timely verse. I had a few friends write me some nice notes about the reminder that it was to them, and it was great to hear how it blessed others. As the day progressed, I quickly forgot about that verse.
I was thinking about it this morning, and it’s pretty easy to forget the things that we should remember. It’s much harder to forget the things that you should forget – it festers and grows like a virus. Does that ever happen to you?
Well, this idea of forgetting the things which are behind is coupled with the idea that there needs to be some reaching forward to the things which are before – pressing toward the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I sometimes forget that part of forgetting. Which all leads back to the beginning of that passage – I am not perfect. I guess that’s why sometimes I forget.
