I was listening to a talk today, and the guy giving the talk described an event that he experienced that changed the way that he thought about everything after that. He had a thought that affected all of his thoughts after that thought.
He was doing research for his next project and consulted all of the experts on the process. He went into the project thinking that what the experts said was how it was done. Then when he went to the job and did it with the practitioner, it was done differently. He questioned the practitioner. The experts said to do it this way. The practitioner (the guy out in the field not the guy sitting in a cubicle) did it the way that the experts said to do it in. It was detrimental to the ones involved in the project. At that point, he was able to distinguish the difference between what the experts in the cubicle and the practitioner out in the field. The expert was wrong, but at that point, he started to question how many other False Fixed Ideas he had. Because of that thought, he thought, what else do I hold on to as truth that is completely false. It was a thought that changed all of his other thoughts.
Have you ever had a thought that changed all the next ones after that thought?
