I love how a big town like San Diego can still have that small town feel – well, at least San Diego is trying to keep that small town feel going. The latest thing that has brought this town together is the recent win of a little league team from Chula Vista becoming the world series champs. Here is one article of the 1300 that are available as I’m writing this.
It was fun to watch the news this morning and to hear about how it’s just bringing this town together. They talked about the restaurants and bars that were packed on Sunday to watch the game. I think the coach of the team during an interview on the news talked about how we have great teams in San Diego – but they don’t really win. Now we (San Dieog) has the Chula Vistas Park View Little League team to thank for bringing us a title. It seems that none of our other teams here can do so.
It was great to hear about how there was going to be so much traffic at the airport for the fans that were going to greet them on their return. It was pretty amazing to hear stories of people who had no idea when they went to the bar who or what was going on, but that the town of San Diego was coming together because of these kids. They walked away fans.
It takes one thing to connect people and bring them together. That’s how community is built. People need to identify with something – beit San Diego or being world champs. The Big Little Town of San Diego celebrates our world champion little league team. They’ve brought us together.
