A Great Hook

It doesn’t matter what it is that you do – but if you want people to remember it or check it out – have a great hook.  It doesn’t matter what your art form is.  It doesn’t matter what kind of content you create.  Everything that you do – that you want people to remember – needs a great hook.

In music, it’s that line that people sing – sometimes it’s words, sometimes it’s just noise or a series of sounds that gives a song character.

If you’re speaking, it’s the first thing that you say that makes your audience lean in to listen to the rest of what you have to say.

If you are writing a paper for a class or a magazine article or a blog post, it’s the thesis statement.  You grab their attention with a hook.

For this particular blog and specifically this post – it could be one of many things.  The red font that says Identity Specialist.  It could be the simple fact that you think that my ideas are not that good – and if you’ve read it this far, you’re hating this idea more and more – but you’re still reading it.  It could be that you’re a follower of this blog or I made you follow it.  It could be that you were looking for something completely different, but since I tagged this post with a word that you happened to be looking for, you found it.  I really don’t know.

I do know this – in whatever you do – if you create a great hook – people will be more willing to remember what it is that you’ve written or created.
