In light of my previous post about songs that we sing that really guide our theology instead of the other way around, here’s another song to think about.
The first verse and chorus goes something like this:
Some glad morning when this life is o’er,
I’ll fly away;
To a home on God’s celestial shore,
I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).
[Chorus]
I’ll fly away, Oh Glory
I’ll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).
Do we really fly away? To some shore?
Too bad we don’t go somewhere else and we don’t die. Chew on that for a bit.
