Ever heard of it?  Yeah, neither have I until I read it in a book this past weekend.

It’s a theory put forth by Rene Girard.  He basically says that humans desire mimetically.  Basically, you desire the same things that other people have; that you borrow their desires.  There’s more to it than that.  I was going to explain it all, but then decided not to.  If you want to understand it more, do the work.  When you figure it out or if you already know about it – explain it to me.  Does everyone desire mimetically?  I’d like to think that it can happen, and I could definitely see how people might want to bite someone elses ideas or stuff – one of the commandments (of the 10) says that we shouldn’t.

I like coming up with my own desires.  I don’t think I need to mimic the desires of someone else.  Agree?  Disagree?
