When You Buy Something…..

…..does that say something about what you bought or does it say something about you.

I was listening to Frank the Podcast today and they were talking about Jennifer Knapp and her new cd coming out in light of her coming out.  During their scenario segment – they asked if they would buy her new cd.  Listen to the podcast (just google search it), and tell me what you think of their conversation.

I was struck by the question – that if they buy her cd – does that support her ideas and philosophy?  Basically, they were asking if buying her cd meant that you agreed with her choices and lifestyle.

What would you do?  What do you think?

i’m gonna buy her cd for sure.
an interesting thought, i think its funny that they are worried about supporting her and her coming out and why they buy music. i wonder if they apply that same thought to the clothes they buy at stores that exploit child workers in third world countries…i think its interesting how we (as christians) seem so worried about certain things (cultural) and could care less about others

If that were the case – one could argue that if you bought something made in China, that you agreed with Chinese choices and lifestyle. That kind of thinking may be too legalistic to actually be useful.

For what it’s worth, the issue is complicated by the fact that Jennifer Knapp is claiming to be in sync with Christianity. Clothing companies, retailers, and Chinese manufacturers aren’t claiming compatibility with Biblical truth. That’s why we think there might be cause for greater consideration.

You guys (J and Dra) have to listen to the show – even if it’s just the scenario section.
      Frankthepodcast – love the show.
