Neos and Kainos

I was listening to a talk yesterday.  He was talking about the word “new.”  There are 2 words for the word “new” in the NT.  I’m not a Greek scholar, but I love the difference.  Neos has to do with things that are so new that they have never been.  It’s the true sense of the word new.  The word Kainos has to do with new that is newer than what was before.  I love the difference.

Neo – new like never has been before.

Kainos – new like newer version of what has been.

What does this have to do with you?  I’m not sure.  It’s a nuance of new, and now you have a kainos understanding of the word new.
