TV Shows Motif

I looked up the definition of Motif in Google, and this is the definition that came up.

a. A recurrent thematic element in an artistic or literary work.
b. A dominant theme or central idea.
I know that the individuals shows and series has a motif, but I was thinking through some of the shows that I watch.  I watch most of my shows on dvr – did you know that they can track how many people watch tv shows on dvr and how many watch them live.  Not sure how they do it, but they are able to.
I was trying to figure out the motif of the shows that I watch.  It’s all over the place.  I watch some reality tv, sit coms, sports, extreme sports, documentaries (actually, they’re probably docu-dramas), and other specialty shows and channels.  With all the choices (previous post about that) available on tv, I had an identity idea related to the tv shows that I watch.  As I think of it, this identity idea could be transferable to the books that you read, the movies you watch and even the websites you check out.  Even though there is no rhyme or reason to why you pick shows, the shows that you watch represent a Jamesian Me that you’ve created.  Looking at the diversity or even lack of diversity reflects all the selves that you project or have created.  The shows that you watch reflect the self that you portray.
So would you tell me what shows you are watching?
