Binding of Selves

According to Marcia and Erikson, identity is a psychosocial construct. Identity from the ego psychoanalytic perspective is not identity that ‘binds things together,’ but rather, the ego that does the binding of different aspects of the self (the “Me”) into an identity (Marcia & Strayer, 1996).

There are different aspects of self, and all of these aspects of self is your identity.  Having multiple aspects of self is not a bad thing.  It’s only bad when it’s not integrated.  An integrated sense of identity and self – that’s what you want.

Just in case you were wondering.
