When you spend over a decade in school and some of us a few more years in college, we are taught one thing – that failure is not an option. In fact, we’re taught that you are a failure if you fail. Some of US learn that an A is the only acceptable grade. Average is C and anything below that really tweaks with you sense of identity and self.
But, how do we as teachers teach – failure as an option. I mean, you read stories of all of these people that have created and invented amazing things – and they fail miserably. Many great things come through failure. I’m a big fan of trying stuff out and exploring.
If any of my students don’t learn failure and how to deal with it, then I think I’ve failed.
Anyway, here’s to failure as an option.
yes. love this and I agree
Failure as an option is a life lesson, often only learned by failing and living through it and perhaps even getting stronger because of it. For me it was college, I wasn’t ready and I failed. This shook my confidence but once I got past it I was confident enough to fail which has served me very well in life.

Thanks for sharing my friend. You are so right about failure being a part of life. I can’t wait to read your post. Thanks again for the comment.
