I recently gave a talk on some of the theory behind my research. It was a 9 minute talk. Not sure it could’ve been adequately explained in 9 minutes. Evidently, the audience had a great discussion (it was a video presentation). Also, I guess there were questions and I am looking forward to getting the questions. I’ll probably put together another presentation to answer questions. It’s interesting to present and not know who’s watching.
My initial thoughts about it is that theory is always easier than practice. Theoretical concepts are general and broad, but when you apply them to real people and real situations, the theories can only guide what might be. Theory helps, but there is art to applying it.
My video rant is on the video page of this blog.
