The Age of Looking Young

We live in the age of looking young. We are obsessed with it. We wear clothes that are too young for us. Everyone works hard to try and look like kids.  Botox helps.  Plastic helps.  Tight jeans help.  It’s what’s in.

Age is an identity descriptor, or at least the perception of age.  We describe people in light of whether they look old or young.  Being old is not cool so let’s all look young.  Mind you, people are still old – it’s not really about being younger.  It’s just looking like it.

So if you have a ton of expectations on you – check to see how many of them have to do with looking young.  I can’t tell you what to do about it, but at least you’ll know what some of the expectations are.
