Americans Don’t Like to Be Told

………well, pretty much anything.

We don’t like to be told that we can’t do it.  That’s kind of a big one.

We don’t like to be told what have to do.  Try that one out today.

We don’t like to be told how to act.

We don’t like to be told where we can and can’t go.

We don’t like to be told to our face.

So what do we do?

We tell you what you can’t do, what you have to do, how to act, where you can and can’t go – Indirectly.  We’ll trick you.  We’ll politic it.  We’ll make it happen another way.  We’ll use Behavioral Economics.  But don’t tell us what to do.  It’s a part of our identity.
