The personal life deeply lived always expands into truths beyond itself – Anais Nin
I don’t even remember where I saw this quote. To be honest with you, this post was sitting in my draft files and I decided to give it a shot.
When I first think of this, I think about how we can truly know if we are living deeply or not. We could always live more deeply than where we are currently living.
I think the quote is talking about a deeply lived life that goes beyond itself.
I guess that means that we tend to live shallow lives – selfish lives – truthless lives. Okay, so maybe not truthless but more truths within itself.
What I do know is that you don’t really come to the truth of a line like this unless you have gone through some stuff. Only in deep pain can you know a truth like this. How do you respond to this quote?
I agree with what you’re getting at toward the end–the ripple effect of our lives.
I dig your quote. Here’s my take on it.
Thinking is an internal dialog in which we ask ourselves questions and then search for answers. I take this quote to mean that if we think on deeper questions we’ll acquire greater understanding beyond what we expected.
Incidentally, this is also the premise behind a software tool I’ve developed. Thanks for posting this quote. Gives me something to chew on for a while. I may even write my own blog post about it. If I do, I’ll give you a shout out in the post. Much thanks.
With respect,
Ryan Williams
