Maybe it’s because I’ve been traveling so much lately. Maybe it’s because I tend to see identity everywhere. Maybe it’s because I have been to a few places where people from all over the place come to visit.
I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago, and I was in Waikiki today. In the past 2 weeks, I’ve been to the following airports. San Diego, Carlsbad, Los Angeles, Chicago O’Hare, Knoxville, Houston, and Honolulu. I’ve sat in an airport a total of almost 24 hours in the past 2 weeks. I don’t normally travel this much, but that’s a lot of time sitting in airports watching people.
People will wear their identity. Cowboy hats, pleather pants, baseball jerseys, Laker hats, workout wear – lots of workout wear out and about, bathing suits, I saw a guy today walking around with a make-shift sumo outfit made out of a trash bag, boots, haircuts, I saw the best mullet in LAX yesterday (definitely rocking business in the front and party in the back), different identity smells, and sorry to say – there are a ton of fairly large people traveling the past 2 weeks. We are a pretty big sized country. You can tell who’s visiting because they’re not as big.
You can’t help but wear your identity. The brands tell you something. What your shirt says tells you something. Your smell definitely speaks much louder than words.
So, where’s the best place to watch identity? Well, wherever there are people.
I had just stepped off the overheated and crowded tube in London into the icy night. I was meeting a friend I hadn’t seen for several years, when I saw her she said, ‘You smell like Nicky.’ it was the most wonderful thing to hear. Since then I have noticed that several people always comment – favourably, may I add quickly – on my scent.
ANother superb post Lem.
I love having layovers because it is always entertaining for me to watch people and I would like to add you can even sometimes tell where be are from by how they walk. lol.
