I heard a guy that helps people talk about helping people and saving their lives. You cannot change people. You cannot change people’s identities. There are tons of people that want to help people and change their lives. The really, really good ones realize that they aren’t able to change people’s lives. The ones that are really good at it are the ones that understand that all that they can do is Give Them Tools to change.
There’s a huge difference between helping people and giving them the tools.
Next time you hear someone say that they want to save someone or help someone – that it’s their calling – remind them. The best that you can do is give them the tools.
What do you think?
And even then…after being given the tools…it’s still their prerogative to change…most times you’ll find it won’t happen as and when you the helper reckons it should…they could even change several years after your death…
That is such a great add to the post. I don’t know that I have that experience, but it was novel for me to think that at the end of the day, I can’t change anyone. I can’t save anyone. I have thought that I could, but I cannot.
Thanks for the comment.
