Suffering and Creativity

Thoughts about the mystery of creativity. I watched again today, a talk that Elizabeth Gilbert gave. You can find it on ted.com and I’ll add it to the post.

I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a super creative person. Maybe I am and I just don’t know it yet. Maybe I just don’t understand my job well enough. I thought that her talk was interesting. I read some of the comments that people have posted about it, and they forget that she said that she’s not going to be able to convince many people of her ideas. But she had an idea and shared it – and that I think is the beauty of this talk.

I do think that she taps into a sort of – as she calls it – a psychological construct that helps her to think through her creative process. It helps her. In many ways, if you’re someone that prays – it’s the same thing.

Watch it and tell me what you think.
