LL38: Teaching Leadership in a Classroom

Is it possible to teach leadership in a classroom?  As someone that teaches leadership in the classroom, it’s been and probably always be a question that I ask myself.  As the saying goes, you either have it or you don’t have it – so that begs the question, can it be taught?

I keep coming back to 2 ideas.

1. There is a definite science to leadership.  It has been researched and studied so it can be taught.

2. The second is a semantic problem.  It all depends on what you mean by “leadership.”  If the expectation is to lead to the best of your ability and limits – then yes, it can be taught in the classroom.
