I went on a walk today with my dogs at our normal park that we go for walks at. There’s a huge field there and there are always games and practice at the fields. After tonight’s walk, I was hit with the idea that these kids – soccer today – has as one of their identities “soccer player.” They would probably describe who they are as “soccer player.” These kids “practice” their identity every day.
I thought about my other identities and I wondered if I “practice” my identity as much as these soccer players do. I think it’s a great practice no matter what your identity. If you’re a writer, you should practice writing – everyday. If you’re an artist, you probably create art, but you can practice it as well to become better. No matter what identities you take you – you should practice your identity.
