I am rereading a book – for my research and was struck by the idea that a cluttered mind is actually the normal and natural state of our minds.
When someone says that their mind is all over the place – it takes no work for your mind to be that way. That is the natural state. I just talked to a friend about her mind space, and she was telling me that she is working hard to stay focused on the things that will benefit her.
It takes discipline to keep your mind focused, but a cluttered mind is normal. Ordering the cognitive landscape of your mind into patterns of intelligible thought – that takes discipline.
