This is a great identity formation skill – not so much to help someone else form their identity but mainly to learn to see yourself. I don’t think we teach that, although some people just pick up on it intuitively.
They are the ones that are able to change. They are the ones that tend to be more self-aware. They are the ones that are able to see how they are coming across.
There is a great opportunity for us to experience ourselves – in a good way – when you are able to see yourself in the eyes of the other.
Do you see experience helping the formation of that confidence?
Do you see experience playing a role in that, as the formation of confidence?
Hi. Thank you for the comment. Are you talking about the confidence in self or the confidence in the other person?
Hi Lem
The self identity formation, looking specifically at say, teachers, new teachers, would you say that with experience comes confidence
I’d like to think that experience brings confidence. Sometimes it comes – through calling or passion. The more you experience something – the better you know – whether you were called to it or not.
Are you a brand new teacher?
Hi
No I’m a teacher trainer, my thesis for my PhD is on teacher identity.
That is pretty exciting. I’d love to read some of your writing. I’d like to learn from you. Where are you in the process?
