Sometimes I hear a phrase, and even though the topic isn’t about identity – it just gives insight into identity and identity formation. This is one of those phrases.
When you hear words said to you – no matter how innocuous – Words Go Into You.
If the words affirm, they build you up.
If the words challenge, how you receive them impacts that impact that it has on you.
If the words tear you down, they might be difficult to hear, but typically these words will break you down.
Sometimes its simply a word that someone says in passing that has deleterious effects on one’s soul. “You’re fat.” “You’re ugly.” “Why can’t you be like your……”
Everything forms. Words Go Into You. I guess you need to find people that might put good Words Into You.
