Everything we do affects others. The type of person we are, shapes the environment we create. This week a gay teenager killed himself after shooting a video telling other homosexuals that it was going to get better. In the video he share the spiritual abuse of his parents (they performed an exorcism on him, and shamed him into thinking he was fundamentally wrong). Christianity is known for a sexist, homophobic, and judgmental mentality (read unChristian). If this is what we embody, why would we ever expect to have someone take seriously the Gospel that we claim? If we are known for our hatred, and disregard of human beings, then the Church (and this can be proved historically) becomes a great source of pain and hurt in the world.
